Sheraton Hostel

As my university is paying for my expenses here in Toronto so I can present an article in a Conference that we wrote about a flight simulator we developed there, it’s the first time in 3 years after visiting US for 6 times, Canada 3 times, and other 11 countries, that I stay in a Hotel without the “s” like this.
All I want to say is that it’s been crazy, what a weird place!
I first arrived in the Sheraton “hostel” and could not believe there was a line for the check in, and there was nobody to talk with. Everybody dressed up with serious expression in their faces. That after paying absurdly 20 dollars for the Sheraton Shuttle!
I came up to my room, 27 floors later and pressurized ear, and I saw my room, was almost going back to the reception to verify if they had given me the right one, when I remember I would have to wait in line…
I thought I had checked in in a sleeping room not in a living room. I could not find my bed when I realized that that huuuuge white puffy square was the surface the guest might use to sleep. This is not a bed for humans… Probably nor for elephants! If I was a little fatter I would think that giving me that sized bed was an offense, really! Inside the room there were 2 doors, which I was really afraid of opening and figuring out people sleeping in another rooms, but very slowly, I opened the first one and… There was a bathroom! What a situation! They put it in my room!?! What if somebody need to pee at night? They would have to knock my door, which closes automatically! What a situation!!! For some reason, nobody in that floor wanted to pee that night! Weird! The second door was the laundry and bank area. I just thought it was quite little for the size of the hostel, but at that time the iron was turned off and nobody was working in the area, it was just weird that there was any clothes hanged in the hangers… Just a piece of paper, which was sort of advertising some clothes and prices. Not too bed for the style of that Hostel:

Dress shirt: $10
Pants/Jeans: $11
Socks (pair): $5.25
Undershorts: $6
Pajamas: $10
Off course nobody was working in the bank at that time either… (Just thought that their safe-deposit-box was too little for that hostel too!)
When I laid down in bed and saw the size of the tv, all was explained! They’ve put me in the Home-theater room, that could explain the size of the bed, the bathroom, and the size of the tv, and also the price of the available pay-per-view movies. U$12! Not too bed if 8 or more people came to split the bill, then I waited, and waited, and waited and slept. I woke up feeling completed lost in that elephant-sized bed with lots of white pillows. When I oriented myself I saw a little couch which, (with my couchsurfer spirit and pride) I regret did not sleep that night. Unhappily, nobody had showed up to the movie!
When I opened the window, there was any trees, any walking trail. Instead, very high building and more building and a very weird narrow and high tower. If the Jetsons have ever really existed, that would be their home for sure! Unfortunately I did not see any shuttle flying around yet…
Then I came to write in this blog, and I was assaulted!!! They charged me U$16.30 to use the internet for 24 hours!!!!
Well, need to go back to practice my speech… “Good-afternoon ladies and gentleman…”

Eles colocaram no meu quarto!?!

Camisa: 10
dólares
Calças / Jeans: 11 dólares
Meia (par): $ 5,25
Cueca: US $ 6
Pijama: US $ 10

“Boa-tarde, senhoras e senhores …”
